Insurance expert and consultant, Suleiman Muhammad bin Mayouf, said that any citizen or resident of different categories, such as drivers and domestic workers, is entitled to receive treatment and health care in private centers and hospitals if they are in a situation life-threatening emergency, indicating that the Ministry of Health is committed to supporting all emergency care and costs until recovery, or taking them to a government hospital.

Mayouf explained in statements to “Akhbar 24” that the Health Insurance Council recently conducted a qualitative and distinctive update of the insurance benefits, coverage limits, and guidance on medication, which included several areas, including focusing on health insurance. beneficiaries and the improvement of their health, the health of women and children, improving the capacities and physical functions of the beneficiaries, the quality of life and limiting the complications of certain diseases and facilitating access to services and health care; Specifying that the update will be applied to health policies issued starting from 1 October 2022.

An increase in insurance premiums for employers was expected as a result of the expansion and completeness of insurance coverage, which will result in increased health claims from insurance companies, which in turn will have to increase insurance premiums to achieve two main objectives, namely, to fulfill one’s financial obligations to health care providers and to make profits, noting that these effects will appear in the financial statements of insurance companies by the end of the fourth quarter of 2022 AD

He noted that it is urgent that the board have legal powers and coverage over health care providers to make supervision and regulation more comprehensive; By enacting statutes and regulations that codify this oversight and powers, explaining that the board seeks to integrate the system to achieve the Vision 2030 goals as one of the health transformation program projects to be announced shortly.
