The Ministry of Health provided a number of tips to prevent the risk of cancer, including adherence to a healthy balanced diet and avoiding carcinogenic foods such as processed meat.
The tips included maintaining weight, exercising regularly, with at least 150 minutes of moderate-intensity exercise per week, and avoiding direct exposure to the sun’s ultraviolet rays, between 10 am to 4 pm when the sun’s rays are strong.
It also included quitting smoking and avoiding all kinds of passive smoking, such as traditional or electronic cigarettes, with a commitment to conducting examinations and early detection of cancer, according to what is recommended by the family doctor.
Within the Gulf Cancer Awareness Week, the Ministry indicated that 90% of cancer cases are related to lifestyle and the environment, so it can be reduced.
