Today, Friday, we observe the sky of the Arab world in conjunction with the waning moon with the planet Mars, where they will be separated by about 3 degrees, in a phenomenon that you will see with the naked eye.
The Jeddah Astronomical Society has said that the moon and Mars will be tracked towards the northeast horizon, and because the apparent distance between them is large, they will not appear together in the telescope’s field of view, but it can be done through binoculars.
He indicated that observing the brightness of Mars on a weekly basis is very important to monitor how it will change dramatically between now and the next meeting in December, when the planet appears at its peak of brightness.
He said the red planet sometimes appears bright because it takes the Earth a year to rotate around the sun once, and Mars takes about two years to rotate once, and the Mars meeting occurs when the Earth passes between Mars and the sun every two years and 50 days.
