Newly elected mayor found dead in Mexico – Diario La Página – 2024-08-15 17:19:24

The Jalisco State Prosecutor’s Office reported on August 13, 2024, that it received a report alerting about a van that had gone off the road on state section 701 km 17+900, on the Villa Guerrero-Bolaños highway. Upon arriving at the scene, the elements of the state law enforcement institution found two deceased men inside the vehicle.

According to a statement from the Jalisco Prosecutor’s Office, the physical features and clothing worn by the bodies found match those of the elected president of the municipality of Bolaños, Yuniur Vázquez Rosalío, and his companion, Antonio Carrillo González, who also served as his campaign coordinator.

The disappearance of both people was reported a day earlier, because the location of both subjects was unknown since August 10, 2024, when they were last seen, in the vicinity of the Hacienda de los Gálvez hotel, in Colotlán. They had previously traveled to Mexico City.

After the local party Hagamos reported that the president-elect of Bolaños could not be located, a search operation was implemented by the state prosecutor’s office, so minutes before 9:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 13, they found the truck that had fallen off a cliff.
