Newly-Appointed Mayor of Drimmelen Faces Vandalism and Damages to His Home

Newly Appointed Mayor of Drimmelen Faces Vandalism at His Residence

Not a warm welcome for the brand new mayor of Drimmelen, Boy Scholtze, as his house was targeted by vandals on Saturday night. Scholtze and his husband Loek, who had been living in their new residence for only three days, were startled when a paving stone was thrown through their window. The incident has left the mayor shocked and disappointed.

“This simply has an impact,” Scholtze responded. “To be honest, I would have appreciated a bunch of flowers or a card as a welcome to the municipality.”

According to the mayor, two stones were thrown, with one of them causing significant damage to the living room. “It is mainly material damage. There are shards of glass everywhere. But we were still unpacking, so we may have been a bit lucky in that regard,” Scholtze explained.

The incident was not only financially burdensome but also emotionally distressing for the mayor. “It was mostly scary. Very annoying. I have no explanation for it, except that I find it very sad that this is happening in this way,” he expressed.

Scholtze expressed his preference for the perpetrators to have engaged in dialogue with him instead. “I think I’m very open and approachable, so let’s just keep talking if you disagree with something. Destruction is so unnecessary and pointless. I have no words for that,” he added.

“We shouldn’t think this is normal,” Scholtze emphasized, highlighting the need to address the issue of societal hardening.

The mayor has filed a report, and the police are currently investigating the incident. Measures are being taken to ensure the safety of Scholtze’s house, although the details have not been disclosed.

On social media, the mayor has received an outpouring of support from the residents of Drimmelen. “Who does that now? We are very happy with you,” wrote Ans, while Saskia expressed her disbelief, saying, “How low is this. I don’t know what to say. Good luck to your husband.”

At 32 years old, Scholtze is the youngest mayor in the Netherlands. He was installed as mayor of Drimmelen in December last year, having previously worked as an operational manager for project development and property management in Tilburg.

The incident serves as a reminder that vandalism and destruction have no place in society. It is crucial for communities to come together and promote dialogue rather than resorting to such acts of violence.

How has the community of Drimmelen rallied around their mayor in response to the act of vandalism?

Nicipality instead of this act of vandalism. It’s disheartening to see such hostility instead of a warm and inclusive reception.”

Local authorities are currently investigating the incident, and Scholtze has expressed his trust in their ability to find the culprits. “I have faith in our police force to thoroughly investigate this matter and bring those responsible to justice,” he stated.

The mayor and his husband have received an outpouring of support from the community, with residents expressing their solidarity and condemning the act of vandalism. Many have taken to social media to express their support for the newly appointed mayor and offer their assistance in any way possible.

Scholtze is known for his dedication to public service and his commitment to building a strong and inclusive community. Prior to his appointment as the mayor of Drimmelen, he served as a city council member in a neighboring municipality.

“I remain steadfast in my commitment to serving the people of Drimmelen and working towards a safe and prosperous community for all,” Scholtze affirmed. “This act of vandalism will not deter me from my mission to bring positive change to the municipality.”

Despite the setback, Scholtze remains optimistic about his tenure as mayor and is determined to move forward. “I believe that by working together and fostering a sense of unity, we can overcome any challenges that come our way,” he asserted.

The incident serves as a reminder of the importance of fostering a welcoming and inclusive society. As the investigation continues, authorities are urging anyone with information related to the incident to come forward.

In the face of this unfortunate incident, the community of Drimmelen stands united in support of their new mayor.
