Newcomers to New York? More and more dolphins seen off the Big Apple (photos)

These are images that were hard to imagine a few months ago: dolphins swimming off New York, in the rivers adjacent to the ocean, in particular the Hudson. If the phenomenon was already observed before, it is now more and more frequent.

And the explanation is quite rational: the city’s rivers are cleaner than before, reports the DailyMail, which has looked into the matter with environmental experts. “Recent improvements to the city’s water have made waterways safer for dolphins and their food supply, leading to an increase in sightings of aquatic mammals, scientists say”can we read in an article on this situation.

This article also recalls that a large project of 50 billion dollars dating from the 1980s now ensures more salubrity for New York waters. This provides healthier habitat and food for aquatic wildlife, which attracts more dolphins!
