It follows from his words that he does not trust Dúbravka very much. “I agree that a goalkeeper and a striker would be the two main transfer priorities for me,” he told the BBC.
He likes David de Gea as a replacement for Pope. The Spaniard, who is currently a free agent, has been linked with Newcastle several times.
“Newcastle need a goalkeeper and De Gea is available. I know he would ask for a huge salary, but they wouldn’t have to pay a transfer fee.”
Coach Howe does not comment much on the speculation yet, he has already stated several times with de Gea that the club is not considering his services at the moment.
