Steve Bruce reportedly about to be fired by Newcastle United soon. The Magpies management immediately looked for a replacement.
Sky Sports reported that Amanda Staveley, the new Newcastle director, met Bruce and the players on Monday (11/10). This meeting was originally planned for last Friday, but was canceled because the squad was on holiday at the time. Staveley also spent the weekend in London.
It was not stated what was discussed with Bruce and the players, but the 60-year-old manager is reportedly set to be released this week and will not lead Jamaal Lascelles et al against Tottenham Hotspur in the eighth week of the Premier League this season, Sunday (17/10).
Temporary Newcastle looking for a replacement for Bruce, Graeme Jones who is Bruce’s assistant will be the caretaker, leading the team at home to the Spurs. During his managerial career, Jones only became a coach once, namely when he handled Luton Town who played in League One and then promoted to the Championship.
Bruce himself since the acquisition of Newcastle was inaugurated has realized he will not last long at the club and will be replaced by another coach, along with the ambition of the new management who wants Newcastle to become a formidable team in the Premier League.
“I’m very happy for this club because (the acquisition) is complete. It’s a beautiful night for the fans, I’m very happy,” he said. Steve Bruce on Thursday last week.
“I want to continue here but I have to be realistic. I am not stupid, and I am aware of what might happen with the presence of a new owner,” continued the former Manchester United defender.
Abundant funds owned by the Saudi Arabian consortium made the coach’s chair Newcastle directly associated with a number of names that are familiar with the severity of the English Premier League. Some of them are Steven Gerrard, Eddie Howe, Rafa Benitez, Frank Lampard, to Antonio Conte.
