Francisco Trincao (23) failed to make a lasting impression on either FC Barcelona or Wolverhampton Wanderers. In his Portuguese homeland, the winger is turning up again. A top English club is said to be interested in Trincao.
After Francisco Trincao caused a sensation as one of the rising stars for SC Braga in the Portuguese league, FC Barcelona secured the winger’s services in 2020 for a fee of 31 million euros.
However, the right winger was disappointing for the Catalans. After 42 games with five goals involved, the attacker was drawn to Wolverhampton Wanderers in 2021. However, Trincao also underperformed in the Premier League.
Rental fee and fee: Trincao costs ten million euros
Trincao returned to Barcelona after his loan spell at Wolves last summer. The Blaugrana let the winger move to Sporting Lisbon for a loan fee of three million euros.
Sporting can acquire 50 percent of the national player’s transfer rights for a further seven million euros. Trincao has scored nine goals and provided three assists so far this season – Sporting are likely to exercise his option.
Newcastle United mit Interesse?
Sporting Lisbon could potentially resell Trincao for a profit. According to Sportwitness, Newcastle United are showing interest in the now 23-year-old. The Magpies have enormous financial resources thanks to the owners from Saudi Arabia. However, according to the Portuguese sports daily A Bola, Trincao does not have to leave Lisbon before.
