Paraguayan Miguel Almirón’s Newcastle stopped West Ham’s desire at home (1-1) to get, at least momentarily, into the Champions League access zone, in a game where he knew how to stop the local momentum.

This despite the fact that West Ham went ahead after half an hour, with a goal from Craig Dawson, in a header. The visiting response came in the last minute of the first half, the work of Joe Willock, after picking up a rebound inside the area.
In the second half, they forced West Ham to try to get ahead on the scoreboard again, but they could do nothing against the good defensive organization of Moyes’ team.
Miguel Almirón was on the Newcastle substitute bench and came on as a replacement after 78 minutes of the game.
West Ham remains fifth, in the Europa League zone, one point behind a Manchester United that visits Leeds this Sunday. For Newcastle, the point allows them to maintain the dangerous seventeenth place, the last one to be saved.
