Some probably raised their eyebrows before Newcastle-Milan.
Alexander Isak was in fact poked before the decider in the Champions League, having started five straight games before that. Instead, Callum Wilson got the chance from the start.
The reason? Newcastle manager Eddie Howe explains:
– He has just come back from a serious injury. He doesn’t feel completely at one hundred at the moment. We are trying to keep him in shape, Howe told TV4 Play.
Can we see it on the pitch? That he is not completely one hundred?
– I thought he did well when he came in. But I don’t think he’s physically at his best, but hopefully it will come.
Newcastle lost the match against Milan 2-1 and came last in their group. Thus, there will be no European Games at all this spring.
Isak has scored nine goals in 18 games this season.
