Alexander Isak scored two quick goals in the second half, plus Anthony Gordon’s late goal, to give Newcastle United a 4-1 win over Chelsea in a Premier League match in which a player was sent off at St James’ Park.
Isak, who missed several matches over the past month due to a groin injury, opened the scoring in the 13th minute, but Raheem Sterling equalized for Chelsea ten minutes later with a wonderful shot from a free kick from the edge of the penalty area.
Newcastle captain Jamaal Lascelles put his team in front again with a header after the hour mark, and one minute later Joelinton tricked fellow Brazilian Thiago Silva on the edge of the penalty area and put the ball into the net to make the score 3-1.
Any chance for Chelsea to come back in the result was dashed when Reece James received the second yellow card in the 73rd minute to leave the match.
Anthony Gordon scored the fourth goal ten minutes later, raising Newcastle to sixth place in the table with 23 points, while Chelsea ranks tenth with 16 points.
