Acquisition Newcastle United by prince consortium Saudi Arabia potentially triggering change in Manchester United. MU can review the position Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
Newcastle United has a new owner, after the Public Investment Fund (PIF) led by Prince Mohammed bin Salman bought it from Mike Ashley last week. The Toon are now one of the richest clubs in the world, if not the richest, with the backing of PIF which has assets of more than IDR 6,000 trillion.
The arrival of a new owner is expected to trigger a series of changes. One thing that is believed to happen in the near future is a change of manager.
Reports are circulating that Steve Bruce will be fired this week. Meanwhile, a number of managers’ names have been linked, such as: Antonio Conte, Steven Gerrard, Brendan Rodgers, Frank Lampard, to Zinedine Zidane.
Changes at Newcastle United have the potential to trigger Manchester United to make a move. Former England striker Kevin Phillips suspects United will start to worry about Newcastle United picking either Antonio Conte or Zinedine Zidane.
MU has recently been linked with these two names. The reason Ole Gunnar Solskjaer have not managed to bring the team to a trophy since starting to handle in 2018.
Solskjaer’s position has recently been increasingly highlighted following the failure to win in the last two Premier League parties. MU lost to Aston Villa and was matched by Everton.
“The new ownership at Newcastle might trigger things in the United board. They may make a decision, worried that Newcastle are taking one of the top managers available,” Kevin Phillips told reporters. Football Insider quoted Metro.
“I don’t want to see the manager lose his job. But let’s put it this way, I wouldn’t be surprised if something happened very quickly if Man United struggled in the next few games.”
“United would not want Conte or Zidane to go to Newcastle,” added the only English player to win the European Golden Boot.
