Newcastle are considering former Arsenal man Vinai Venkatesham. – Zone F1

Former Arsenal chief executive Vinai Venkatesham is reportedly a target for Newcastle United and could be set to take up a similar role at St James’ Park.

Peter Silverstone, who is currently at Newcastle, worked with Venkatesham at the Emirates Stadium, and it seems the close relationship between the two could see them reunite at St James’ Park, according to the Daily Mail.

Newcastle are looking for a replacement for Darren Eales, who is leaving the Magpies after being diagnosed with cancer in September.

Venkatesham appears to be a strong candidate with plenty of experience, so Newcastle would be in good hands if the 43-year-old took up the role at the club.

Everything is changing in Newcastle at the moment, with Amanda Staveley also leaving the North East club recently.

Things appear to be in their early stages between Newcastle and Venkatesham, but it is easy to see why his business experience and successful financial and sponsorship deals during his time at Arsenal make him a strong candidate for the job.
