A 20-year-old woman has been arrested but has denied being the child’s mother.
On January 1, a newborn boy was found abandoned in the plane’s toilet.
The Air Mauritius plane came from Madagascar and landed at Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam International Airport in Mauritius.
The little boy was in the trash when airport officers performed a routine customs check after arriving in the country.
According to the newspaper The Straits Times they became suspicious when they saw the blood-stained toilet paper.
Airport staff took care of the baby who was quickly sent to the hospital.
BBC writes that a 20-year-old woman from Madagascar has been arrested after the incident. She is said to have denied that the boy was hers, but a medical examination confirmed that she had just given birth.
Both the 20-year-old woman and the baby are doing well, according to the BBC.
The news website also writes that the woman arrived in Mauritius with a two-year work permit – and that she will be questioned after release from the hospital.
According to the BBC, she will also be charged with leaving the newborn baby.
