An emergency doctor informed the police on Tuesday morning because that night a woman with a heavy bleeding had been admitted to the emergency department. The patient’s medical examination “showed the presence of a placenta and umbilical cord, but there was no trace of the newborn,” said the Charleroi prosecutor’s office.
The police discovered the lifeless body of a newborn child in the mother’s house on rue Chausteur. “At the moment it is difficult to say what happened,” said the prosecution. The file is in the hands of an investigating judge. An autopsy was performed on the body of the child and the results are analyzed.
‘All options are being considered,’ emphasized the public prosecutor’s office. The interrogations in the woman’s family environment are underway. The woman still needs care.
