Newark implements stricter measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19 – Telemundo New York (47)

NEW JERSEY – The city of Newark, the largest in the Garden State, has been one of the hardest hit by the COVID-19 pandemic and Mayor Ras J. Baraka has taken stricter regulations to stop the spread of the virus.

That is why Baraka announced on Tuesday additional measures to those it had already implemented since last October 27 after 12,778 positive cases and 677 deaths were reported on Monday.

“Newark’s precautionary measures are not the same as the state’s,” said Mayor Baraka. “Newark’s test positivity rate is 19%, while New Jersey’s is 7.74%, more than double. Stronger measures are required at hotspots in the city to contain the virus and limit the spread. I know we are all tired, but the virus is not, so we must be vigilant and do whatever it takes to get this under control and save lives.
