An investigation has been launched in New Zealand into a man who had himself vaccinated ten times in one day against corona. According to the website Stuff, the man was paid to have himself poked on behalf of others.
An employee of the Ministry of Health tells Stuff to take the matter very seriously. The ministry would not say where the incident took place.
Vaccinologist Helen Petousis-Harris says the man must have felt pretty bad after the vaccinations. If too large a dose is administered, it is likely to result in a more severe reaction from the immune system. “It’s very stupid to do this.”
Incidentally, the man is also not extra protected. It can even backfire, says immunologist Graham Le Gros. “Immune systems are not linear, you need just the right amount to get a really powerful, beautiful immune response that protects you.”
