A 40-year-old mother has been charged with the murder of all three of her young children after they were found dead in their house in the small town of Timaru in New Zealand.
According to the news agency AP, the mother was taken to hospital with serious injuries. She is out of danger. Police tell the agency they are not looking for other suspects.
The family had just moved to New Zealand from their home country of South Africa, because the father of the deceased children had gotten a job as a doctor.
The tragedy happened just days after they had finished their stay in quarantine hotels.

It must have been the father who found the deceased children when he came home from work.
The neighbors came to him right after the discovery, and asked what had happened.
The father should not have been able to say anything other than “is this really happening?”, Writes the news agency Stuff.

AP writes that nothing on the accused mother’s behavior, especially in social media profiles, indicates that something was wrong. She has posted pictures of pastries, her family and encouraged people to take corona vaccines. In May, she will have posted a post about her wedding day.
– Congratulations on your 15th wedding anniversary! What an adventure. We have really created a lovely family and had so many great moments together. Now we can hope that the next few years will be even more blessed, happier and that the kids let us sleep, she is supposed to have written.
