New Zealand starts campaign against Instagram tourism

Traveling is generally a bit tricky at the moment. But even without a globally rampant pandemic, tourism has become a problem because sights or landscapes suffer from the massive onslaught. Even remote places are being increasingly affected by so-called Instagram tourism, because they are turning from insider tips to hotspots and are therefore being visited by more and more people for the perfect snapshot. In addition, there are unfortunately always cases in which Instagram tourists do not pay attention during their daring photo shoots and die.

The official New Zealand tourism portal is now trying to counteract these negative developments with a campaign and raise awareness of the problems.

Three small clips were produced under the motto: “Please do not travel under the influence of social media”.
