New Zealand bans Covid-19 unvaccinated foreigners

New Zealand will ban foreigners who have not been vaccinated against Covid-19 from entering the country, New Zealand’s Covid-19 affairs minister Chris Hipkins said on Sunday.

This ban will take effect on November 1 and will apply to anyone over the age of 17 who is not a New Zealand citizen and has not been fully vaccinated.

“Vaccination is the most effective measure against the spread of Covid-19, as well as against the risk of serious illness and death,” Hipkins said.

New Zealand Airways, on the other hand, has announced that from February 1, passengers who have not been fully vaccinated against Covid-19 will not be allowed on its international flights.

New Zealand is making good progress in controlling the Covid-19 virus. Whenever cases of infection are detected, local or, if necessary, national restrictions are imposed.

In a country of five million people, some 4,000 infections have been detected and 27 deaths with Covid-19 have been reported since the pandemic began.

46% of the New Zealand population are fully vaccinated against Covid-19.
