The New York Yankees have managed to get ahead this MLB season despite having three members of their starting rotation injured.
In the Bronx they know that they must go to the market in the next major league offseason to strengthen that department and it is possible that a pitcher will be available that they should not miss.
Mexican pitcher Julio Urías has not reached an extension agreement with the Los Angeles Dodgers and could well be part of the Yankees’ rotation in 2024, which would remain so if Luis Severino does not return in free agency:
The ups and downs of the 2022 season are a thing of the past for Cole, who reasserts himself as the undisputed ace of the Yankees’ rotation with a historic start to the season, further highlighted by injury woes to New York’s starting pitching. In four starts the right-hander has a perfect 4-0 record, a 0.95 ERA and 32 strikeouts in 28.1 innings. If he keeps up, he’ll be in the running for his first Cy Young Award in 11 years of major league service.
