CYankees manager Aaron Boone announced Sunday ahead of his team’s game against the Baltimore Orioles.
Boone did not disclose the identity of this person. Another Yankees staff member was unavailable due to contact tracing.
Since Monday, nine people accompanying the Yankees on their travels have contracted the virus, including shortstop Gleyber Torres and three instructors.
Last week, the Yankees revealed that Torres tested positive for the coronavirus even though he got both doses of the vaccine and had previously contracted the virus. He’s in quarantine in Tampa, Florida.
On another note, the Yankees put outfielder Aaron Hicks’s name on the ten-day injured list on Sunday. The measure is retroactive to Thursday.
Hicks suffered a tear in a tendon sheath on his left wrist. The Yankees attempted to treat the injury with medication. It is not known if Hicks will need surgery.
“When he was trying to kick off either side of the plate, it wasn’t giving the results he was hoping to see or that we were hoping to see,” said Boone.
In a maneuver related to the injury, the Yankees promoted outfielder Ryan LaMarre of their Scranton / Wilkes-Barre school club to AAA level. He started Sunday’s game at center field.
