New York Yankees: slugger Giancarlo Stanton still injured

NEW YORK — Giancarlo Stanton is back to a familiar place, the injured list.

The Yankees signed the 32-year-old slugger there on Wednesday, the result of a strained right calf.

This is Stanton’s fourth straight season as a cripple.

He had to leave in the seventh inning on Tuesday against the Orioles.

Stanton is hitting .285 in 40 games this season, with 11 home runs and 35 RBIs.

Last season, he delivered 35 home runs and 97 RBIs in 139 games.

National MVP in 2017, with Miami, Stanton was acquired before the 2018 season.

He has a career batting average of .269, with 358 home runs and 928 RBIs.
