Halfway through the MLB regular season, the New York Yankees not only still haven’t found their left fielder, but have added new questions to their outfield situation.
Captain Aaron Judge has not played for a month due to a right foot injury and center fielder Harrison Bader is not assured of his permanence after going twice on the disabled list this season in the Major Leagues.
In the Bronx they know that they must go to the exchange market to find a solution to their problems and, although various options have been considered, major league analysts have just pointed to a new candidate who would be ideal for the Yankees.
In the Los Angeles Angels organization there is a player who is projected as the answer to New York’s concerns. But it is not Hunter Renfroe, as has been speculated, but Jo Adell.
The former top prospect for the Anaheim team is now in Triple A, where he has shown his power. At 24 years of age he hasn’t quite gotten his place on the big team, where the outfield is taken over by Renfroe, Tyler Ward and star Mike Trout and has failed in his attempts to establish himself.
Jo Adell’s 514-foot HR is the longest hit in both @MiLB and MLB this season. 😮
It’s also longer than any MLB homer tracked by Statcast. pic.twitter.com/TdLs5jRIrm

But for the New York club it is ideal. Adell has 69 games in Triple-A in 2023 and his offensive line is .272 / .369 / .579 with 22 homers –one of them impressed with his 514-foot distance-, 14 doubles and 54 RBIs.
If the Yankees are willing to sacrifice a prospect like Yoendrys Gomez, they could add Adell, who would be perfect to wait for the development of young prospects like Jasson Dominguez and Spencer Jones.
