The New York Yankees began to clear up questions about the team for the next MLB season by leaving several players off the 40-man roster.
One of them was Domingo Germán, 31 years old and coming off a campaign full of ups and downs in which he pitched a perfect game, was suspended and ended up on the restricted list to treat his alcohol problems.
He spent six years with the Yankees and everything indicates that he will not return. Even if he finishes his time in the Bronx, the Dominican right-hander’s Major League career could continue and there are several organizations that could need to add him by 2024.
The Angels appear to be rebuilding, but they will need to add some pieces to get through the regular season. After losing Shohei Ohtani in free agency and putting Lucas Giolito on waivers – among other moves – he will need a pitcher to accompany Patrick Sandoval and Tyler Anderson in next season’s starting rotation. The Dominican Germán is an option that will be quite economical for the Anaheim club and that they can consider if he is healthy and recovered from his off-field problems.
