SANTO DOMINGO, Dominican Republic.─ Dominican outfielder Óscar González was left off the 40-man roster and placed on “assignment” by the New York Yankees.
The move had one purpose: to make room for newly signed pitcher Marcus Stroman.
This Wednesday, the New York Post reports, The Yankees made the agreement with Stroman official, a pact valued at $37 million, according to sources.
The Yankees claimed Gonzalez, 26, who was placed on waivers by the Cleveland Guardians in December. The arrival of outfielders Juan Soto, Trent Grisham and Alex Verdugo would limit the Dominican’s time.
