New York Yankees Acquire RHP Cody Morris in Exchange for OF Estevan Florial Ahead of 2024 MLB Season

The New York Yankees continue to make moves ahead of the 2024 MLB season and this Tuesday they reached an agreement with the Cleveland Guardians by handing over Dominican Estevan Florial in exchange for right-handed reliever Cody Morris.

Florial had not achieved stability to stay all year with the New York Yankees in the MLB and that is why he had been placed in the market for players available for a change.

With the acquisition of Juan Soto, the Yankees added another outfielder to their roster, so Florial was going to have problems again to get a spot on the big team’s roster on Opening Day of the 2024 campaign.

The left-handed hitter has not been able to perform with the bat the times he received the opportunity to play in the Major Leagues. Last season he hit .230 with no home runs and 8 RBIs in just 19 games at the highest level.

Morris, for his part, has not had a consolidated career in the MLB either, with just 8 innings last season, 10 hits allowed and 6 runs received, always as a reliever for the Cleveland Guardians. However, between Double A and Triple A he left a 3.23 ERA and 45 strikeouts in 39 innings of work.
