New York with strict vaccination strategy

In New York City, workers at nearly 184,000 businesses were required to show proof that they had received at least one dose of a coronary vaccine by Monday. Businesses that do not comply with the requirement can be fined starting at $ 1,000.

Mayor Bill de Blasio defended the demand during a press conference on Monday.

– Our best way to defend ourselves against the coronavirus is to get everyone vaccinated. Korona is bad for humans, it’s bad for our health, and it’s bad for business.

Bill de Blasio urges people to accept the vaccine to avoid further shutdowns. Nevertheless, he emphasizes that imposing punishment will be the last resort.

Disagree

According to the news agency AP, there are now several business owners and workers who strongly disagree with the new measures. Lawyer Louis Gelormino and several of his clients believe that the measures violate workers’ rights.

In addition, Gelormino emphasizes that New York City has no authority to require private sector workers to take the vaccine, despite the fact that such requirements have already been introduced for restaurants, bars, theaters, gyms and other indoor gathering places.

On January 1, Eric Adams will take over as the new mayor of the city. It is still unclear whether he will keep or change the mandate.

Such are the rules

The new rules apply in private places where work is performed in the presence of another employee or other persons from the public. This includes, among others, store employees and taxi drivers.

Companies are not required to fire workers who do not comply with the requirements. The employer, on the other hand, has to keep the person away from the workplace.

It is already required that people employed as nurses, as well as government employees from the fire department, police and schools in New York must be vaccinated to get to work.

At the same time, the US health authorities want the quarantine period for those who have been diagnosed with corona to be halved.

New quarantine advice

The quarantine period for coronary heart disease should be halved, according to the US Communicable Diseases Control Agency (CDC). Close contacts that have been given a refreshing dose may release insulation.

The CDC on Monday proposes several changes to the rules for infected people, which will probably be adopted by the US authorities soon.

It is proposed that the quarantine period for infected people be cut from five to ten days, while people who have received a third vaccine sting should avoid all quarantine time when they are close contacts with an infected person.

People who have symptoms should still be quarantined, writes CDC.

– This is not about sending people who are ill back to work, said Health Commissioner Mary Bassett at a press conference on Monday.

The Infection Control Agency justifies the measures with the fact that figures now indicate that corona infection mainly occurs early in the course of the disease.

Government officials say that the new quarantine rules can contribute to less staff shortages in critical jobs, while the virus can be better controlled.
