NEW YORK – If you couldn’t enjoy the beautiful days of last weekend, you’ll soon have another chance.
Before that comes another two-day hot and humid spell, with isolated thunderstorms possible in the tri-state area.
Thursday and Friday present a higher humidity than the last days and the possibility of storms, although the latter decreases for Friday. Any storm that develops on any day is likely to become active by mid-afternoon and the threat will persist into the evening, but the risk zone shifts south on Friday as the system moves through the tri-state area.
Severe weather potential is low on both days, but slightly higher for Thursday and well north of New York City. Storms could start to brew as early as 2:00 pm in some places. Damaging winds and heavy rain appear to be the main threats at this point, but hail is also possible.
As is often the case with severe weather, an isolated tornado cannot be ruled out. These storms will be more spread out than the ones that hit the New York area earlier this week to end the heat wave, and some may not get lightning or thunder.
