New York Will Create Portal To Help Small Businesses – NBC New York (47)

NEW YORK – Two bills signed Tuesday by New York City Mayor Eric Adams seek to promote a fair and broad economic recovery to help businesses.

One of the accounts Introduction. 116, will require the Commissioner of the Department of Small Business Services (SBS) to create a “New York City Single Business Portal” that offers all the applications, permits, licenses and documentation needed to open and run a small business in the city in a unique location, easy to access and navigate. A user can submit and check the status of applications, permits and licenses through this portal, as well as settle or pay outstanding balances on infringement notices. The SBS Commissioner must also review the effectiveness and efficiency of the portal every three years, including through a survey of participating small businesses.

The portal will ensure greater accessibility and transparency, will allow greater predictability of processing times and will facilitate compliance with municipal rules and regulations. Construction of the portal is underway, with SBS, the New York City Office of Technology and Innovation and the Mayor’s Office of Efficiency leading an inter-agency task force earlier this year.

On the other hand, the Introduction. 383, would require the submission of additional registration declarations for commercial real estate by August 15 (for the period January 1 to June 30) and February 15 (for the period July 1 to June 31). December), each year, instead of a single deposit on 30 June, as required by current legislation. Additional registration statements will be required for any property that is vacant at the end of a given reporting period. It would also require the New York City Department of Finance (DOF) to issue this supplemental registration statement within 60 days of the reporting deadline, up from six months under current law. The aim of the bill is to increase the frequency and timeliness of the data reported on job vacancies in the city.

“For too long, bureaucracy has hindered the work of New Yorkers and small business owners,” said Mayor Adams. “Small businesses are driving our recovery and we want to make it easier for New Yorkers to settle in all five boroughs. By signing these two bills, we will make sure we better serve our small business community through a single portal to help them open and run their businesses and maintain better data on job vacancies in our city. Promises made, promises kept.
