The city’s restaurants will be able to restart indoor service at 25% capacity starting next month.
The news is encouraging for these businesses because February is one of the months with the highest demand for dinner tables.
According to Governor Cuomo, the resumption will be possible as of February 14, Valentine’s Day; as long as the trend for new coronavirus infections and hospitalizations remains down.
And starting in March, the state will allow marriage parties at 50% capacity or 150 people maximum.
Local health departments must give the green light to those events and all attendees must be tested for COVID-19 in advance.
The governor said these reopening procedures are due, in part, to the Buffalo Bills’ two-game pilot plan at home with the public in attendance.
Fans had to get tested and follow tracking protocols after the event.
Cuomo says this experience could lead to the reopening of other spaces such as Broadway and ballparks.
