The winter weather offers good news for this Monday. For the first time in a week, the temperature in New York will rise above freezing.
Our meteorologist Lucrecia Borchardt, from Los Guardianes del Tiempo, predicted that by 6:00 in the morning there will be a temperature of 23 °F with a sensation of 17 °F, so there will be a cold dawn.
However, as the hours go by, the digits will begin to rise.
By 12:00 noon, the temperature will be 33°F (0.5°C), above freezing for the first time in a week.
And by 4:00 in the afternoon it is expected to rise to 36 °F. “A mostly sunny Monday, although we will see some isolated cloudiness arriving in our region,” explained Lucrecia Borchardt.
Maximum temperatures for this Monday:
- New York / 40°F
- Newark / 40 °F
- Islip / 36 °F
- Norwalk / 37 °F
“This trend will continue for the rest of the week, but we anticipate cold temperatures that will continue into the night,” said the meteorologist.
The code blue also remains in effect, which indicates that, due to low temperatures, anyone who requests it cannot be denied shelter in New York City. Likewise, if you see someone wandering in the cold, you have a duty to call 911.
Regarding the probabilities of precipitation, the weather forecast indicates that Thursday (81%) and Friday (72%) will be the days when you should go out with an umbrella in hand. For Wednesday there is 47%.
