New York: two injured in a knife attack at the Museum of Modern Art

Two people were injured Saturday in a knife attack at the Museum of Modern Art in New York (MoMa). The cultural establishment was then evacuated. Police have asked residents to avoid the neighborhood where the MoMa is located.

The two injured “are in stable condition” and have been taken to a nearby hospital, a New York police spokesman said. According to the channel NBC, Their days are not in danger. No one was arrested after the attack, which occurred at 4:16 p.m. (10:16 p.m. in Paris), police said. US media, however, claimed that a suspect has been identified; the direction in which he fled is also known.

According to NBC, the two victims are museum employees, a 24-year-old man and woman. They were reportedly targeted on several occasions after denying the alleged perpetrator access to a screening. This would be a former employee of the premises, 60 years old. He was barred from entering the venue as he had been placed on a no-entry list the previous day after causing disruption several times.

The Museum of Modern Art will remain closed this Sunday.
