New York – that unique energy for constant renewal

However much the New York art world has changed over the years, it still exists, those periodic bursts of energy that give the local scene a boost. And the latest phenomenon has an acronym in classic Manhattan fashion: Tribeca.

Tribeca: Behind this abbreviation hides a narrowly defined district, the Triangle Below Canal Street, which is being introduced as the new downtown gallery district at the start of the 2019 autumn season. Years ago, isolated pioneers had discovered the charming Walker Street for themselves, now a whole bunch of stragglers opened at the same time and gave the trend a critical mass. Andrew Kreps is here, Canada and James Cohan, others like Luhring Augustine will follow soon. So Tribeca almost instantly becomes the second main location for New York galleries alongside Chelsea.
