“New York Taxi Driver Disputes ‘Catastrophic Pursuit’ Claims of Harry and Meghan”

The ‘near catastrophic pursuit’ of Harry and Meghan in New York last Tuesday was not too bad, according to the taxi driver who transported the two. Sukhcharn Singh tells American media that the story was exaggerated by the British royal and his wife.

“I think it’s a bit exaggerated, people shouldn’t think too much about it.” That is what New York taxi driver Sukhcharn Singh told American media about the much-discussed car ride of Prince Harry and his wife Meghan Markle in New York.

Singh was behind the wheel of the taxi that transported Harry, Meghan and Meghan’s mother Doria Ragland after they attended an awards show on Tuesday night. According to Harry and Meghan’s spokesperson, their taxi was chased for two hours by “extremely aggressive paparazzi” and there was an “almost catastrophic chase”. During the chase, the couple’s car is said to have almost collided several times.

According to Singh, the couple was nervous. “His wife looked frightened and Harry was nervous.” New York, according to the taxi driver, is “the safest place to be.” “There are police stations everywhere and cops on every street corner, so there’s no need to be afraid in New York.”

‘Reckless’

The New York Police Department assisted Harry and Meghan’s security team on Tuesday and said there were no reported collisions, injuries or arrests during the “challenging ride.”

New York Mayor Eric Adams called it “reckless and irresponsible” during a press conference that photographers had pursued the British prince and his wife.

The incident brought back memories of the death of Harry’s mother, Princess Diana, who died in a car accident in Paris after being chased by paparazzi.
