NEW YORK – A central New York man has been charged with the stabbing to death of his father and the father’s girlfriend, authorities said.
The New York State Police were dispatched to a location on the outskirts of Rome in New York on Monday, shortly before noon, after a neighbor reported seeing a man standing at the edge of a blood-covered driveway. Police said in a press release.
Officers arrived at the scene and found 30-year-old Kyle Kirk with blood on his clothing and his father, Howard Kirk III, 60, lying in the driveway with stab wounds, police said. Howard Kirk was pronounced dead at the scene.
When they went to search the trailer where Howard Kirk had lived with his girlfriend at the back of the property, officers discovered the girlfriend, Amanda Osborne, 53, killed by multiple stab wounds, police said.
Kyle Kirk was arrested on two counts of first degree murder and one count of criminal possession of a weapon. It was unclear if Kirk had an attorney who could comment on the charges.
