In a statement, the governor’s office says the law requires employers to offer a “reasonably adapted” space to workers with disabilities or pregnant women if requested.
The New York Division of Human Rights contends that Amazon policy allows workplace managers to override recommendations made to make these employees’ jobs easier.
In addition, it claims that, according to Amazon’s accommodations policy, employees with disabilities are forced to take unpaid medical leave, even when a reasonable accommodation has been identified that could allow the worker to continue performing essential functions of work. supposed.
“My government will hold any employer, no matter how large or small, accountable if they fail to treat their workers with the dignity and respect they deserve,” the governor was quoted as saying in a statement.
It is not the first time that New York has filed a lawsuit against the giant of home sales.
