New York: Subway stations run through “Elsa” full of water

Flooding in parts of New York City. The foothills of storm “Elsa”, which had previously raged over the Caribbean as a hurricane, have flooded the metropolis on the Hudson as well as parts of the state of New York. In the city, residents waded through knee-deep water, subway stations were flooded. Passers-by reported that the water rose by leaps and bounds from one moment to the next, so that motorists in their cars were surprised by it. “Elsa” had lost momentum over Florida on Wednesday. For New York, the national weather service warned on Thursday of a tropical storm with wind speeds of up to 96 kilometers an hour.
