New York Subway Shooting Suspect Frank James Charged with Terror Attack | International | News

A federal grand jury has charged Frank James, a 63-year-old man, with a terrorist attack on a public transportation system. James is the suspect in the early April shooting on the New York subway, local media said this Saturday night.

Regarding the sentence, if the suspect is convicted of the most serious charge: terrorist attack, he will face life in prisonwhile the other charge carries a maximum sentence of life imprisonment and a minimum of ten years.

The attacker threw two smoke bombs and discharged a firearm during a violent crime for the 33 shots he fired in a subway car passing through Brooklyn during the morning commute rush hour on April 12 .

There were no deaths, but ten people suffered gunshot wounds and another thirteen had to be treated for various injuries or intoxications caused during the event, which sowed chaos and paralyzed the city’s subway system.

James was arrested a day after the attack in the East Village neighborhood, south of Manhattan, by two agents, after a passerby spotted him on the street, photographed him and posted the image on Twitter that alerted the authorities.
