New York subway shooting: multiple people shot during morning rush hour | Abroad

“At 8:27 a.m., police received an emergency call from a person who was hit by a bullet on the Brooklyn subway,” a police spokesman told AFP. Several people were said to have been taken to hospital and New York police say no working explosives were found at the station.

News website NBC New York also reports several “unexploded devices found at the site.” The suspect may have thrown in the devices, possibly smoke bombs, before opening fire. Explosions were not heard.

The police arrived at the subway station on 36th Street in Brooklyn at 8:30 AM in New York City. A metro station where several lines pass. Some of the injured fled via another subway. Images of blood on the platform are circulating on social media. Police are urging people to stay away from the metro station, both for their safety and so that the investigation can begin.

Meanwhile, other stations in New York, including Grand Central Terminal, are heavily guarded. The police are looking for a man in a gas mask and an orange safety vest.
