New York subway shooting, injured (VIDEO + PHOTOS) – Incidents – World – NOVA News

At least 13 people were injured after an unknown person opened fire on a subway in New York, reports the BBC.

At rush hour, a man wearing a gas mask and orange construction overalls opened fire at a station on 36th Street in Sunset Park, Brooklyn. A loud explosion was also heard, eyewitnesses say. According to NBC, the attacker threw a smoke grenade on the platform between the passengers.

The television also reported that several explosive devices were found at the scene, but they were not detonated.

Videos and photos posted on social media show bloodied people lying on the ground near the metro line.

Local police urged people to avoid the area.

There is tension among New Yorkers after what happened. This was said on the air of “The Day Live” by NOVANEWS Lyuba Docheva, a resident of Brooklyn.

“I learned about the subway shooting from my colleagues. I was thinking of going to work, but I gave up because there would probably be a problem with the subway lines. My colleagues also said that they would try to get home earlier to avoid rush hour and bustle. We know that the shooting took place in the subway on 29th Avenue in Brooklyn, which is only about 30 blocks from where I am, “she explained.

According to her, there is no information that the perpetrator has been found.

“A man with an orange worker’s vest and a gas mask is probably wanted,” she said.

Initial versions have not been announced by the authorities. Firefighters were called on a signal for smoke or fire in the subway.

“There is tension among the citizens, but I guess by the evening the restaurants will be full again and people will calm down. “Unfortunately, such events are not new to New York,” she added.
