NEW YORK – One of four people involved in an armed robbery in the Bronx subway on Tuesday morning was killed after jumping between the cars, falling onto the tracks and making contact with the third track, two NYPD officials said. .
The group committed a robbery at gunpoint on a northbound 2 train on 174th Street and then switched to a 5 train on east 180th Street.
They were seen running between the train carriages, NYPD officials said. The suspected dead robber jumped between the cars as the train stopped at one point and hit the electrified track, officials said.
He was pronounced dead on the spot at around 6:40 am.
The other three robbers, all teenagers, were taken into custody without further incident, officials said.
Details of the armed robbery were not immediately available. The investigation is ongoing.
