The man committed an act with intent to cause death and serious bodily harm, according to the indictment released by a New York court on Saturday.

The 62-year-old is accused of opening fire on a subway train in the Brooklyn borough in mid-April during the morning rush hour. More than 20 people were injured by gunfire or the resulting panic. The perpetrator was initially able to escape, but was caught a day later in Manhattan. If convicted, he faces a life sentence.
