NEW YORK (dpa-AFX) – Ahead of the Jackson Hole central bank conference, price movements on Wall Street on Thursday will continue to be limited. Among the major indices, there were initially no major price movements: the Dow Jones Industrial (Dow Jones 30 Industrial) did best after half an hour with an increase of 0.11 percent to 35,444.34 points. He is almost 200 points away from his previous record.
Among the other indices, neither the S&P 500 nor the NASDAQ 100 were able to continue their record series in early trading: The market-wide S&P index recently fell by 0.13 percent to 4490.54 points and thus just as easily as the Nasdaq selection index, the 0 Lost 15 percent to 15,345.29 counters.
By the middle of the week, investors had hardly taken any risks. The head of the US Federal Reserve, Jerome Powell, will be speaking at the conference this Friday on the monetary policy course. However, observers consider it rather unlikely that he will make specific statements about the expected tightening of monetary policy in view of the tense corona situation./tih/jha/
