NEW YORK (awp international) – Wall Street is still going downhill: just under an hour after the start of trading, the Dow Jones Industrial was trading 0.78 percent lower at 28,290.37 points. The best-known US stock index is thus heading for the third day of losses in a row after the previous rally. The other indices fared no better: the market-wide S&P 500 lost 0.83 percent to 3459.77 points and the technology-heavy Nasdaq 100 lost 1.18 percent to 11,844.48 points.
According to stockbrokers, once again dwindling hopes for a quick agreement on another corona stimulus package in the USA and a significant increase in new corona infections in Europe and the USA weighed on it. Now, “the depressing knowledge is seeping through that the infection process around Covid-19 in the old world is about to get out of control”, noted market analyst Timo Emden from Emden Research. The US election campaign takes a back seat. Mixed economic data gave the courses no direction./gl/fba
