The state of New York registered this Friday more than 1,000 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in 24 hours, the first time that figure has been reached since the beginning of June, as the authorities announced this Saturday.
The state, which has a population of almost 20 million people, confirmed more than 10,000 daily infections in the worst moments of the pandemic, but in recent months it has managed to keep the virus at bay.
In recent weeks, however, the number of cases has risen again little by little, although the percentage of tests that are positive continues to remain low, around 1%.

On Friday, the New York authorities reported almost 100,000 tests carried out, of which 1,005 were positive, while the number of hospitalized patients increased by 16 (up to 527) and the number admitted to intensive care by 10 (up to 164).
