“Of the 99,953 tests communicated yesterday (Friday) to New York State, 1005 were positive,” they said. A level that had not been reached since June 5.
“It is essential, with the approach of fall and the season of the flu, that New Yorkers continue to respect the barrier gestures allowing us to fight against COVID-19,” commented Democratic Governor Andrew Cuomo .
“We will continue to closely monitor the data and keep New Yorkers informed so they can make informed decisions for themselves and their families,” he added.
However, the health situation has improved markedly in New York State since the spring, at the height of the crisis.
Restaurants in New York City, which were already serving outdoors, will be able to reopen their rooms on Wednesday, at 25% of their capacity.
The United States on Friday reached the mark of 7 million recorded cases of COVID-19 since the start of the pandemic.
The disease has also killed nearly 205,000 people in the country, according to the benchmark count from Johns Hopkins University.
