Ten people were slightly injured after gunmen opened fire in Queens, New York late last night (local time), the New York Police Department (NYPD) announced.
The incident happened outside a nightclub for private events, with 3-4 men opening fire on a crowd gathered there, according to police.
The state of health of the injured – six women and four men – is not serious.
Users on social media expressed shock at the incident and shared photos of the police deployment at the scene.
The police ruled out the possibility of a terrorist attack.

The incident came hours after two other acts of violence in other US states on New Year’s Day.
In New Orleans, a man drove the semi truck he was driving into a New Year’s crowd, killing 15 people.
Also yesterday, a Tesla Cybertruck exploded and caught fire outside the Trump International Hotel in Las Vegas, killing the driver and injuring seven others.
American authorities are trying to identify suspects related to the incidents in New Orleans and Las Vegas and are investigating the connection of the incidents to terrorism.
