New York restarts its ‘Open Streets’ neighborhood show

The program open streets is underway for the 2022 season and some areas will start operating from this week.

The initiative began during the start of the pandemic and through it, the streets of the city became public spaces for residents to go outdoors while maintaining social distancing.

Neighbors enjoy the ‘Open Streets’ program.

The program has evolved a lot in the last two years. It has become a significant support for many small businesses.

In New York, the area covered by the streets makes up 27% of the city’s surface.

However, the program faces new obstacles. Critics of the initiative argue that it takes away parking space for cars and disrupts the flow of traffic.

However, some counties and city areas are better equipped for the program. In fact, some neighborhoods, like those along Vanderbuilt Avenue in Brooklyn, will kick off “Open Streets” this week.
